Think Before You Drink, is a week dedicated to helping you learn how you can be successful in college and still have a good time. Join us to learn tricks to help you party smart. This week is led by the Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs in partnership with the University Wellness Program.

Schedule

Monday, October 17
Health Hut
Russell Student Union Rotunda, 11am – 1pm
The Wellness Ambassadors will be working the Health Hut to get your prepared for Think Before You Drink. We will have the prize wheel, Wellie the Whaleness Whale, giveaways, tips to party smart and more! Partners include University Wellness Program and Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs.

Tailgate
In front of University Store, 5pm – 8pm
Help us kick off the week at our Campus Wide Tailgate. Activities include Nickel Bag of Funk, DJ Nino, NPHC Stroll, Student Organizations, Athletics and more! Partners include: University Wellness Program, Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs, NPHC and Student Government Association.

Tuesday, October 18
Arrive Alive
Russell Student Union Rotunda, 10am – 4pm
Come learn how you can steer clear of distracted driving. Activities include DUI simulation, Text and Drive Simulation, ShuttleGus and more! Partners include: Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs and University Wellness Program.

Casino Night
Russell Union Ballroom, 6pm – 9pm
Residence Hall Association is here to show you it doesn’t always take alcohol to have fun. RHA will be presenting the Las Vegas themed Casino Night where we will have various casino themed games such as BlackJack, Roulette, Slot machines and more. Come out and enjoy a real taste of a Las Vegas casino. Partners include: Residence Hall Association, University Wellness Program and Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs.

Wednesday, October 19
Health Hut
In front of University Store, 11am – 1pm

Film Screening: IMPACT: After the Crash
College of Engineering and Information Technology Building Auditorium, Room 1004, 6pm – 8pm
A film shining a light on a tragic situation will provide a look into the lives of those affected by drinking and driving. This film will be shown in collaboration with Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Partners include: Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs and University Wellness Program.

Minority Advisement Program Trap Karaoke
Russell Union Commons, 6pm – 8pm
“Trap Karaoke” is an event designed to bring a combination of music and awareness of how our social, sexual, and mental well-being can be challenged as a young adult within a college atmosphere. Each song chosen to sing by a single or group of individuals will have lyrics that may include drinking leading to sexual encounters, partying, or even battles faced in romantic relationships. Overall, the goal is to explain to students that in college it is best to make wise decisions, so that one may not become the targets such as those that are written into the song lyrics of our current generation. Partners include: University Wellness Program, Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs and Multicultural Student Center.

All Recovery Night
Nessmith-Lane 1909, 8pm
Students About Service student organization leads this event to raise awareness and inform students about all different types of recovery. Be inspired by stories of recovery. Partners include: Center for Addiction Recovery, University Wellness Program, Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs and Student About Service Student Organization.

Thursday, October 20
Good Clean Phun Party & Showcase
Russell Union Ballroom, 9pm – 1am
Join Xi Tau chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity for “Good Clean Phun Party & Showcase”. Dance the night away with your closest friends while supporting Eagles for Eagles at the same time. $1 admission at the door. Partners include: University Wellness Program, Xi Tau chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs.
Friday, October 21
Bike In Movie Night: The Blind Side
Sweetheart Circle, 8pm
Come watch Academy Award, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild winning movie, The Blind Side on Sweetheart Circle. All bike-riders will receive a t-shirt while supplies last. Enjoy popcorn and the big screen under the stars. Don’t forget to bring a blanket and/or tailgate chair! Partners include: University Wellness Program, Center for Sustainability, Office of Alcohol & Other Drugs and UPB.
