Willie J. Burden Memorial Golf Tournament – The 3rd Annual Willie J. Burden Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at noon on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Georgia Southern University Golf Course — the day after Georgia Southern hosts Appalachian State in football.
Dr. Burden was a long-time Georgia Southern sports management professor, Canadian Football Hall of Famer and sport administrator. Proceeds from the tournament support the Willie J. Burden Memorial Scholarship for Georgia Southern sport management student. Typically, the cost to golf in the event is $100, but Georgia Southern students only have to pay $75. If you cannot participate in the event, support towards Dr. Burden’s scholarship fund is still encouraged.

Rappelling Clinic
5 – 8pm
Southern Adventures Center
The Rappelling Clinic is designed to introduce participants to single line rappel technique on our outdoor rappelling tower. This clinic is good for those who have already completed either the Basic or Advanced Climbing Clinic, though neither are required as prerequisites to attend.

Join us each week as we discuss the benefits of resistance training and equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to reach your goals and exceed your own expectations! Find your place at Women & Weights!
Each session is led by two nationally certified Personal Trainers that will provide exercise instruction and motivation. Any Georgia Southern female student or Faculty/Staff that is a member of the RAC is eligible to participate. No registration is required however each class is limited to the first 20 participants. All participants must wear proper fitness attire to participate.

Free Swim Preview

RAC Aquatics Center
CRI offers swim lessons and clinics for Georgia Southern students, faculty, and staff RAC members. We offer three class options: non-swimmer, swimmer, and advanced. All classes are supervised by American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. All classes last 45 minutes. Sign up at the RAC Member Services counter.

Try Archery

Shooting Sports Education Center
Try Archery is for anyone that wishes to discover the thrill of shooting a bow. Our certified coaches will teach the basics of shooting a bow as well as the required safety practices and techniques. Recurve bows will be used exclusively and the program fee includes equipment rental.
Registration Process:
The registration fee will be paid in person at the Shooting Sports Education Center, where participants will complete an activity registration form and waiver. Registration in advance is preferred.

Saturday – October 20

Iron Eagle Challenge
10am
RAC Pavillion
The 14th annual Iron Eagle Challenge (IEC) will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 10am. The IEC is an adventure race that travels through Georgia Southern University’s scenic campus. The course requires two person race teams to cycle (off-road and on), run/walk, paddle, and conquer several mystery challenges along the way. Many former competitors have compared the event to the popular television show The Amazing Race.

Women’s Firearms Fundamentals
9am – 12:30pm
Shooting Sports Education Center
This course is designed for women who want to learn how to handle and shoot a firearm safely. Safe shooting and handling practices are paramount for any woman who is considering owning and or operating a firearm. Participants will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the anatomy of the different handgun systems, benefits and drawbacks specific to each of the platforms and their operation. In addition, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of shooting.
