Fall 2015 Club Spotlight – Equestrian

Congratulations to Equestrian for being named a Club Sport of the Month in the Fall 2015 semester! Club president, Brennan Perry, was interviewed and offered some great information about the club.

1. When was your club established at Georgia Southern University and what is the tradition your team has?
   • Starting in 1993, we make it a tradition to begin with a meet and greet and end with a finals feast the last week of school. It’s a cool way to see how much we’ve become a team throughout the year and more importantly good friends.
2. Why do you like playing club sports at Georgia Southern University?
   • We like club sports at southern because we can meet people who share the same interests and we can be more involved on campus.
3. What is it like to travel and play different schools?
   • Traveling with the equestrian team is fun, it normally lasts for the weekend, it’s the best bonding experience, and we can show off what we’ve been practicing.
4. What is your best memory while playing in tournaments/competitions this semester?
   • The best memory so far this semester is being first in the region, which has yet to happen before.
5. How does someone go about joining your team?
   • If your interested In riding it’s easy to learn about us through our Facebook page, campus involvement, student organization fairs and things like that.
6. How can they find out more information? Are there tryouts?
   • To become a part of the team we have a meet and greet at the beginning of each semester and then we have tryouts the week after. We look for riders on all ends of the spectrum from beginner to advanced.
7. Does your team have any recent special achievements? If so, what are they?
   • For the 2014/2015 school year we were year end reserve champions and this year we are working for year end champions for our region so that we can advance to Zone finals. We currently are first in the region and are very excited about that!
