The 14th annual Iron Eagle Challenge (IEC) will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 10am. The IEC is an adventure race that travels through Georgia Southern University’s scenic campus. The course requires two person race teams to cycle (off-road and on), run/walk, paddle, and conquer several mystery challenges along the way.

The mystery challenges require both mental and physicals skills. Every year we had new challenges and bring back some old favorites from previous years. Whether you are looking for some intense competition or just a chance to have fun with a good friend, this race has something for everyone.

Many former competitors have compared the event to the popular television show The Amazing Race.

The Iron Eagle Challenge is approximately 5 mile in length, starting and ending at GSU’s Recreation Activity Center (RAC), with the majority of the mileage taking place on the bike.

Gear

The first thing you will need is a partner to race with and a team name that is original. With regards to equipment, all racers will be required to bring/rent/borrow:

  • A bike suitable for on/off road cycling
  • A cycling helmet
  • Tight spandex (not required, but more fun)

Don’t have a bike or helmet? Southern Adventures is renting their mountain bikes and helmets to anyone racing at no charge. Stop by the Southern Adventures Center located in the Recreation Activity Center (RAC) ASAP to reserve a bike/helmet. There is a very limited quantity of bikes/helmets available so act now!

Goods

After the race, we will have snacks and drinks available at the RAC pavilion.

Awards

The awards ceremony and raffle will be held shortly after the last racers are off the course at the RAC Amphitheater. Check our sponsors to see what companies have donated prizes for the winners and raffle.
