NRA Level 1 Rifle Coaches Certification

Course Description

NRA Level 1 Rifle coaches certification course at the Georgia Southern Shooting Sports Education Center is offered for club, JROTC and high school rifle coaches wanting to improve their coaching skills.

The course will focus on air rifle and small-bore disciplines as well as the following topics: Safety, Rules, How to Run a Match, Hands-On Position Coaching, Sports Psychology, Training Plans, Equipment, Fundamentals, Target Scoring and more.

The first 2 full days of the course are required for the NRA certification. On Sunday 8am-noon, coaches will have time on the range with live fire instruction. This is essentially lab time for coaches to be a shooter and understand what has been taught in the school.

Instructor

Paul Davis (LTC USA Ret.) will be the lead instructor. Paul is from Union, South Carolina and has decades of hands-on coaching experience and success. He currently serves on the NRA National Coach Development staff where he conducts camps all over the United States.
 

Required Materials & Lodging

Each coach will need to bring their own competition air rifle or smallbore in a case, sling, shooting glove, prone mat & kneeling roll, air tank adapter and pellets for the training. Coaches should also bring a flash drive to get the slides and a 3 ring binder for all course handouts.

Lunch and snacks will be provided on Friday and Saturday.

Camp Waiver, Insurance & Medical Information

After registering online, a welcome e-mail will be sent to you containing information for you to complete your registration. It will include a waiver, camp policies and procedures, medical information and more.
