Welcome SOAR Students! Campus Recreation and Intramurals is THE preeminent provider of fun and exciting recreation activities. We offer a wide variety of programs and services in Statesboro and Savannah, including intramural sports, fitness programs, outdoor adventure trips and, of course, recreation facilities. Fun Fact: Students who participate in recreation activities 20 or more times a year have a higher overall GPA and retention rate than students who don’t. Our purpose is to inspire self-discovery through sport, fitness, wellness and adventure. So get involved, come hang out with us and make your parents proud!

REC Chats

Connect with some of our student staff virtually in our “Ask Me Anything” style Q&A sessions we like to call REC Chats. Check out the schedule below and put a reminder on your calendar. You can talk with a different program area each week so you can find your fit (and the fun) with CRI.

We are using Zoom to host our REC Chats, so if you haven’t already done so, you’ll want to download the free app – if you click on the session you’re interested in, it should prompt you to connect and download the software. Make sure you have a microphone so you can chat with us – otherwise, you can type your comments in the chatbox. We hope to see you online!

Registration closes Friday, June 26th at Noon. Play starts Monday, June 29th and runs until July 17th. Playoffs run from July 20th to July 26th.

GS Golf Course

Visit the GS Golf Course

The Georgia Southern University Golf Course at University Park is a beautiful 18-hole championship course offering a variety of challenges for all skill levels. The golf course is located six miles south of Georgia Southern’s Statesboro campus. The course is 6,900 yards from the championship tees and includes a total of five sets of tees at each hole to accommodate a variety of player skill levels.

What we offer:

Clinics and lessons offered by PGA certified professionals
Fully stocked Pro Shop, driving range and practice areas
Students can take classes in golf as an elective through Health and Kinesiology
Schedule a tee time online
Students pay a significantly reduced price – $10 to walk 18 holes!

GS Shooting Sports Education Center

Visit the Shooting Sports Center

The Georgia Southern University Shooting Sports Education Center (SSEC) is a partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The 30,000 square foot facility is open to the public and equipped to serve a variety of shooting sports interests through the 16 lane, 25 meter firing range, 16 lane, 25 meter archery center and two training rooms.

Our purpose is to provide a hub for the shooting sports in southeast Georgia. Through instructional programs, training classes, recreation, competition, and special events we serve a variety of individuals including youth, adults, students, law enforcement, hunters, 1st time shooters, elite athletes, all groups interested in participating and learning more about the shooting sports.

What we offer:

Shooting opportunities for both firearms and archery
We welcome people who have never held a firearm or bow, all the way to experienced shooters
We offer instructional programs, training classes, recreation, competition and special events
We provide training for those who don’t know how to shoot, and training for those looking to take their skills to the next level
You can shoot during any of our events – just pay the event fee
To rent lane time, you MUST become a member first:
- $20 membership fee per year
- There’s a short class and test – takes about 30 minutes
- Range time with a safety officer
