Major: Nutrition & Food Science

Certifications:

  • ACE Certified Personal Trainer

Passion for Training:

Fitness has made me who I am today- mentally tough, strong, and independent. There is nothing I want more than to help people achieve these qualities along with holding them accountable to their goals. Everyone is capable of greatness if only they believe in themselves along with having someone believing in them. I want to be that person.

Fitness Background:

I grew up competitively dancing and cheering along with playing various sports all throughout my life. My mom started taking me to the gym when I was young; I tried various aerobic classes and fell in love with the gym atmosphere. I fell in love with interval training when I began Crossfit a few years back. Now, with my own certification, I have began running and writing my own workouts. I am constantly researching and learning how to improve my cardiovascular endurance, along with strength. In order to be a great trainer, I believe it is important to be well rounded in all aspects of fitness.

Passion for Training:

I love seeing my clients grow inside and out; becoming a better version of themselves every day.

Fitness Background:

I was always into sports as a kid and played sports in high school. I was lifting as a kid, but never consistently. After the death of my grandfather and a man who could be my second dad within a month of each other my first semester of college, I decided to take that time to truly focus on myself to get myself out of the hole I was in. It was then I realized that fitness was my passion and only wanted to help others who may or may not have been in my situation. I want to teach others that fitness can be a scapegoat from reality. I focus mostly on strength training and bodybuilding, but truly love to do any type of workout!

Passion for Training:

I enjoy working with and inspiring my clients to achieve any goal that they have in life (in and outside of fitness). I know my position as a trainer is to be a leader but I do not want to create followers, my ultimate goal is to create other leaders.

Fitness Background:

Fitness has always been a big part of my life ever since I can remember. From the the time I was 13 years old involved with martial arts, all the way until now with bodybuilding. I was first introduced to weight training/fitness while I was in high school due to my current interest in team sports (football to be more specific). However, I soon realized that team sports weren’t for me. Ever since then, everything I’ve done involving fitness has primarily been focused on my own self-effort. (bodybuilding) As of now, I’m currently an NGA Natural Men’s Physique pro bodybuilder and also soon to be NPC competitor. My specialty in training is weight loss, building muscle , and strength and conditioning.

Passion for Training:

I love helping people reach their goals and seeing the impact I can have on someone while also helping them discover their own passion for fitness.

Fitness Background:

I have always been very active and loved any activities that were sports related or just being outdoors. I used to barrel race and became a horseback riding instructor in high school, then realizing I had a passion for coaching. Around that same time, I got into long distance running and discovered HIIT and CrossFit style training and began to fall in love with fitness. Soon after that I found myself in a gym, and have been in love with weight training ever since. Coming to college I realized I missed the coaching aspect of horseback riding and applied it to my passion in the gym. I find that HIIT and weight training are my favorite ways to train but am constantly trying out different types of exercises and am open to anything that comes my way.

Passion for Training:

I’m a strong believer in the vast number of physical, mental, and emotional benefits that exercise provides, and I enjoy getting my clients excited about what I’m excited about.

Fitness Background:

I’ve been involved in soccer most of my life. In high school, my passion for soccer began to transition into a passion for fitness. My focus shifted from sports-oriented workouts to strength training, muscular endurance, and building lean muscle mass. My passion for exercise and helping people inspired me to become a personal trainer as well as my career decision to become a doctor. I have used and enjoyed many forms of exercise and love to learn new things in the gym, but I focus mostly on strength and muscle building programs as well as cardiorespiratory fitness and fat loss programs.

Jonathan Owens

Major: Exercise Science

Certifications:

  • AAAI/ISMA Certified Personal Trainer

Passion for Training:

Being able to help and motivate others to achieve their fitness goals has always been a passion to me. It’s something to watch people come to the gym daily for their goals, it’s another step when that person is willing to ask for help and guidance from me to help achieve their goals.

Fitness Background:

I was involved in many different sports and activities throughout my life that would range from running the 100m in Track and Field to playing catcher in baseball. I became interested in weight lifting during the end of my high school freshman year. Sadly, incorrect exercise techniques caused me to injure my shoulder, which would take a while to be healed. Now after learning from my mistakes and asking others for advice, I’m trying to help others avoid similar mistakes I had.

Major: Music Performance – Instrumental

Certifications:

  • ISSA Certified Personal Trainer

Passion for Training:

I have always wanted to help people but was never sure where to start. Training has allowed me to help people become healthy, confident, and empowered individuals.

Fitness Background:

Believe it or not, I didn’t exercise or play any sports growing up. I was a fairly scrawny boy entire life until one day in 7th grade my friend told me in order to get a six pack all I had to do was 100 sit-ups for 3 months and I would be set. However, 3 months later and a couple thousand sit-ups later I didn’t have a six-pack. Ever since then I have been on a journey to become the best version of myself that I can be. I enjoy primarily strength training workouts, calisthenics, and plyometrics.

Major: Exercise Science

Certifications:

Passion for Training:

Exercising pushes a person mentally and physically, and I want to inspire my clients to find their passion for fitness. I believe that everyone will be able to see the benefits of working out, and I want to be there for my clients and continually motivate them.

Fitness Background:

My family has always instilled in me the importance of working out, and I got into weight lifting my senior year of high school. I quickly realized that the gym was the main place I wanted to spend my time. Working out gives you such a sense of accomplishment, and I love learning about new exercises to challenge myself and changing up my workouts. I mainly focus on strength training and interval training, but I also enjoy cardiovascular training.

Client Testimonials

I’ve always enjoyed going to the gym, but I mostly found myself using the treadmill or elliptical machines. I decided I wanted to begin strength training but didn’t know how to plan workouts on my own. Now, not only have I lost 50 lbs., but I’m seeing muscles in places I never knew how to work out before. I know I work harder now, but it seems like my trainer and I are always having fun, laughing the whole time.

Lauren  –  Started training in January 2015

I was stuck and needed a jumpstart, but felt like I couldn’t do it on my own. I found a personal trainer who was not only able to understand my needs and help me create a plan but also hold me accountable for getting results. After only six months, I’ve lost 30 pounds, but more importantly, I feel stronger, not just physically, but also emotionally, mentally. This is such a great environment, with such supportive people. You may be able to do all this on your own, but why would you? With a personal trainer, you have someone that is knowledgeable, encouraging, nonjudgmental and a true supporter of your goals. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done!

Exercise Behavioral Consulting

In collaboration with the Georgia Southern Sport and Exercise Psychology Graduate Program, Exercise Behavioral Consulting will now be offered as a supplementary service for RAC personal training clients. This program is being offered by advanced sport and exercise psychology students trained in behavior change, and is 100% free and confidential.

The aim of the EBC program is to help you get the most that you can out of your fitness experience. First time exercising? Have trouble sticking to your fitness plan? Recovering from an injury? Training for an event? The Exercise Behavioral Consultants can help. With theory and research-based behavioral strategies, our trained consultants will design an individualized plan to help you reach your fitness goals. You have the freedom to meet with your Exercise Behavioral Consultant as frequently as you would like, separate from your personal training sessions. Your Personal Trainer and your Exercise Behavioral Consultant will, with your consent, collaborate to ensure that you are receiving a comprehensive wellness service, working to strengthen both your mind and your body.

If you are interested in enrolling in this program, please collect an EBC information packet from the RAC Member Services Desk, or ask your Personal Trainer.

Feel free to contact the EBC program coordinator, Dr. Brandonn Harris, with any additional questions or concerns.
